Detox Through Exercise

Filed under: Detoxifying — Guest Post @ 12:02 pm

When most people think about a body detox system they often think that the only way to work with this is through diet and nutrition. The truth of the matter is that detoxification can be greatly implemented by the use of movement and exercise; In fact, some people say that detoxification is something that cannot happen without it! Any way you look at it, you’ll find that moving your body freely and with enthusiasm is something that many people agree will make you feel better. The symptoms that are addressed by full body detox, including lethargy, constant loss of energy and depression, can all be addressed through exercise as well, so when you are looking into a natural body detox, make sure that exercise is part of your regimen.

When you are thinking about a full body detox, you will need to think of the ways that toxins actually leave your body. You’ll find that your skin is actually one of your major eliminative organs, and that you can get a lot of the toxins out of your body by sweating them out. Take some time to think, though, about the last time you sweat. Whether it is due to wearing clothes that are too tight, or don’t allow your skin to breathe because they are synthetic, you’ll find that sweating is something that we often take pains not to do. Similarly, the masses of skin care products that we put into our skin can also be quite difficult when it comes to making sure that toxins are leaving our bodies, so make sure you think about what this has to do with your body detox plan.

Good exercise can help this out a great deal. When you exercise, your body is allowed to sweat freely, and you’ll find that toxins will be removed from your skin. When exercising make sure that you wear loose-fitting clothes made of natural fibers. This will allow you to really get the toxins out when you are working out. Working out will also increase your circulation, allowing your body to fuel the metabolic processes that help you during a natural body detox.

The important thing to remember is that your exercise should not be a source of stress, as stress, after all, is another thing that can cause toxic buildup in our systems. Find a type of exercise that you enjoy and make sure that it is one you want to stick with. Whether you are a dancer, a martial artist, someone who loves treadmills or someone who prefers tae bo or jazzercise. You’ll find that there is a great deal of different exercises out there for you that can help you with a full body detox. Take some time to really consider what you are doing and why; don’t keep doing one exercise over and over again, take some time to find a few that you like and rotate to keep from being bored.

Exercise is an important part of any good body detox plan, so make sure that you don’t take it lightly. The more you like your exercise regimen, the more you’ll want to do it, and you’ll find that with just a little bit of work, you can really get into the swing of your chosen body detox system and feel great.

Vitamin D Fights Cancer

Filed under: Nutrition — Guest Post @ 10:02 am

In some recent animal studies vitamin D has strikingly reduced cancerous tumor growth. In addition, a large number of observational studies in people have linked low vitamin D consumption to an increase risk of cancer. The type of cancers linked are numerous: breast, rectum, esophagus, stomach, bladder, ovaries, prostate, kidney, uterus and lung; a substantial list of cancers to say the least.

Researchers at Creighton University in Omaha conducted a double-blind, randomized, placebo controlled trial, the most reliable form of clinical information obtained. Among 1,179 community-living, healthy, post-menopausal women, they reported last year in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition that over the course of four years, those that took calcium and 1,100 International Units of vitamin D-3 developed roughly 80% fewer cancers than those that just took calcium or a placebo. What an extraordinary endorsement for the benefits of vitamin D!

Vitamin D is quickly becoming the powerhouse nutrient and for good reason. We are finding not only that vitamin D has extraordinary benefits but we are also discovering that the current RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) is way too low. Currently the RDA for vitamin D is 400 I.U. Probably over the next few years, as the information uncovered by these types of studies is finalized and the information gets processed by the FDA, you will see a dramatic increase in the RDA for vitamin D.

Vitamin D is not just beneficial in reducing the risk of cancer. The powerhouse nutrient has many important roles in the body. These include…

  • Maintaining Your Calcium Balance
  • Immune Boosting
  • Plays a role in Insulin Secretion
  • Regulates Blood Pressure
  • Disease Prevention

Many of you may know that vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin as opposed to a water-soluble vitamin like vitamin C for instance. The danger with fat-soluble vitamins is that it is possible to overdose and develop vitamin-toxicity. Vitamin D toxicity is extremely rare in healthy people. One should not be concerned about this unless they are taking extremely high amounts consistently, such as 7,000 - 10,000 I.U.s. It is also important to note that developing vitamin D toxicity to overexposure of sunlight is not a legitimate concern.

It is very difficult to get all the nutrients we need from the food we eat. Vitamin D is no exception and there are a wide range of vitamin D supplements in the marketplace. We strongly recommend getting your vitamin D in a non-synthetic vitamin D3 form and definitely take it with calcium in the proper ratios.

Vitamin D is tough to get from food especially for vegetarians. Here is a list of foods that are a natural source of vitamin D…

*Herring

*Catfish

*Salmon

*Mackerel

*Sardines

*Tuna

*Eel

…and the one natural source not found in water…

*Mushrooms

The more research being done on vitamin D, the more we are understanding its overall importance to our health.

Lose Weight While Eating All You Want

Filed under: Weight Loss — Guest Post @ 11:17 am

If you could eat all you want and still lose weight then wouldn’t you already by skinny? Yes you would be, if that was the only thing to it. There are tons of people out there that get to eat everything they want too and are still very skinny. The part that people are leaving out is that you have to burn off all of those calories that you just ate.

The youngsters have it a lot easier because a lot of exercise is built into their life like you used too. So they have the higher metabolic rate and higher levels if learn muscle mass. A metabolic rate is the rate that your body naturally uses/burns the calories in your body. The high the rate the more can eat and still not gain weight.

As you age your metabolic rate decreases that is why many people find that as they age the pounds just seem to keep adding up. Another factor is that right along with you metabolic rate decreasing your life style also changes. When you where young you where out having fun on the town, shopping, sports or any other number of activities you never thought of as exercise.

That is why when you where young it true that you could eat all you want and still lose weight. Now that you don’t do everything that you used to do it’s a lot harder to just maintain the same weight. Everything that we do like it or not burns calories and without the things we used to do it’s a lot easier to gain weight with out realizing it at first.

In order to truly eat all you want and still lose weight you have to realize that you are going to have to do something proactive about it. The other half to the statement that they left out is that you are going to have to exercise to burn off those calories. The best part is that once you start exercising not only will you lose weight and feel better about yourself you will have a lot more energy because your natural metabolic rate will increase as you exercise more and more.

I personally have found that the best way to exercise is to have a program that you can stick with. Once you are on the program that works for you the most important thing that you have to do is to stick the routine. Go jogging every Monday, Wednesday, Friday or whatever it may be. One program may be better then another then in the end it is all about what program works for you and your life style. This exercise program is what will allow you to eat all you want and still lose weight.

Exercising also builds lean muscle mass and that uses up a lot more energy then fat does. It is like a chain reaction; the more you exercise the higher your metabolic rate will be and the more learn muscle mass you will gain. These three things burn tons of calories and then your able to eat all you want and still lose weight.
